Partners are at the heart of everything we’re trying to achieve through Future Surrey.
Devolution and local government reorganisation (D&LGR) is a significant change for all of us, but it also provides a real opportunity to create a more joined-up local government in Surrey, one that better supports the people and communities we serve. We know we cannot do this alone. Strong, trusted partnerships will be critical to delivering better outcomes for residents.
We also recognise that this is a time of uncertainty. You may have questions about how the future East and West Surrey Councils will work, who to engage with, and what this means for your organisation. We are committed to being open about what we know, honest about what we are still working through, and to involving you at the right points as plans develop.
Our partners have a strong and meaningful role in helping to support our residents and we look forward to working with you as we build Future Surrey together.
D&LGR is about more than changing structures. It’s about improving outcomes for residents by strengthening how organisations work together. Our partners are central to making this work.
To support our partnership working, we will continue to
- Share regular, clear updates through the Future Surrey latest news section and the Shadow Authorities pages of the website and the Future Surrey Partner Newsletter (first issue coming at the end of July)
- Be open about what we know and what we don’t yet
- Offer opportunities for you to help shape priorities for the new East and West Surrey Councils
- Provide guidance to help you navigate the changes
